I just bought a pair of dumbbell handles at Modell’s. They didn’t have any weight plates there, so I was only able to buy the dumbell handle. I tried going to two other Modell’s in hopes that they might have the standard weight plates, but they only carried Olympic ones.
I know I can buy online, but I’d much rather buy at the store. Are there any stores I can go to that sells Standard Weight Plates? Does Sports Authority carry them?

I am looking at a weider 6 foot spin lock weight barbell. It comes with 160 pounds of weights. I am just wondering what the difference is between this and an olympic bar. Also, are all weight plates the same or are their different sizes for the different bars? If i was going to get the weider one, could i buy more weights if i ever outgrew the 160 and how do i know if they will fit?

People tell me to buy olympic dumbells better than regular dumbells because I will eventually become stronger an wont need the regular dumbell anymore but if I buy an olympic dumbells and become stronger I can just buy heavier plates, my question is, are the plates expensive?Im talking about 2 plates, regular dumbells cost like 40 bucks for just 1 dumbell, are the weight plates more expensive to buy or cheaper?

I have a weight bench, olympic bar ( 35 lbs. ), and a lot of weight plates. They range from 3-like 53 lbs. and are in pairs. Is it safe to keep them upstairs in a bedroom? The home is only about 6 years old. Thanks a lot, God bless!

Hi all, I have been training for the past 6 years and got no where. I have been going to the gym but no results. So i have decided to get some kit for home. Im 6ft weight about 95kilo. Got nice shape but there is some fat. I have bought 2x 10kilo plates 2x 5kilo plates a standard 7ft barbell (could not afford the olympic) pull up bar and some press up bars. I intend with my next pay cheque to double up on the weight plates. My questions are:
1. What is the maximum weight i can use on my standard barbell, i know its gonna be ok for arm curls but what about deadlits where the weight is higher dont want to bend the bar
2. Where can i get a decent bench that folds away and will support me and 50kilo dumbells
3. Does training at home work ???
