It is always done in olympic weightlifting where you have the barbell. Then you have to lift it over your head and keep there for a couple of seconds. Also what muscles is that working out?
I am a beginning Olympic weightlifter, and I’m trying to find a gym that has a platform for Olympic weightlifting and doesn’t really mind if you slam the weight down. Since the style of Olympic weightlifting you do that frequently I need a gym that wouldn’t mind. Anyways I live in Miami, Florida so can please tell me a gym that fits that description, and how much dose it cost to go. Also, the phone # of the gym and address.
Hi. I’m 14 years old, 5′8 and I weigh 134 pounds. I am a basketball player and I’m trying to jump higher or to get a higher vertical. And in order to dramatically increase my jump lots of people suggested Olympic Weightlifting like this:
I don’t want to stunt my growth. Will it stunt my growth? Cause I want to be able to grow taller but at the same time Olympic weight lift so I could gain higher jumps.

And I’m 100 percent sure that it helps you jump higher. But I want to know if it would stunt my growth?
Also. If It DOESN’T stunt my growth then how many pounds do you suggest I start lifting (power clean, clean and jerk are parts of Olympic Weightlifting) so I could be safe.
